Gaushala was established in Shantipur Ashram, Assam in 1946. It provides shelter to 70 cows. It ensures protection and proper care of old aged cows, non-milk producing cows and calves along with milk-producing cows. Approximately 2 to 3 liters milk is produced daily which is used for the bhog (food offering) in all the mandirs of the Ashram.

Along with the aarti of gods and goddesses, aarti of cows in gaushala is also carried out as we believe cows are sacred and holy.

Planning is being done to install biogas plant and also to produce various products like phenyl, incandescent sticks, fertilizers, etc from cow dung (gobar). The motive is to effectively utilize the benefits of cow dung for the welfare of the people. These products will be sold at a minimal price for the convenience of the people. It will also give employment to many villagers.

Efforts are made to spread awareness about the immense benefits of cow urine (Gomutra) consumption. According to Ayurveda, cow urine has various health benefits such as to cure leprosy, fever, peptic ulcer, liver ailments, kidney disorders, skin problems such as Psoriasis, anemia, and even cancer.
